Can reading only prepare one for the Holocaust experience?  I don't think so.  But it is a good first step to understanding.
  Understanding who suffered.
Understanding who slept night after night in fear.
Understanding the senselessness of it all.

But there must be more than reading.
There must be a journey to the Museum.
Dr. Denny

The trip was exactly like Ms. Phillips said it would be, it wasn't fun, but it was an expirence. At first I thought hat was an extremely strange way to explain a feild trip, bu now I completely understand what she meant. After hat trip, I truly understand how they suffered and how it all could have avoided if only people could understand one another's differences.

Even though it's sad and scary to learn about the Holocaust and experience the horrors of that time, it's a powerful lesson from history.

I felt the same way the meusem was really sad and the bus ride was too long. Dr. Denny next year you should take a plane

This trip was an experience. I didn't think that I would like it, but ot was very interesting. The museum was very life like and I felt like I was actually in the Holocaust.

Matt Specht
12/05/2012 11:26am

It was really interesting. Although I've been before, it was better the second time. I learned and experienced more. Over all, it's an experience that people should have.

12/05/2012 11:27am

I thought the trip to the holocaust museum was interesting and sad. The Guide talked about what the jews had to go through and what his they had to live. They talked about how the nazis were brutal to all Jewish people no matter what the circumstances.

12/07/2012 3:12pm

I just wonder what made the Nazi's so cruel to do that to innocent people like nothing justifies what they did and nothing will ever justify it no even hatred its just not right.

alexis correll

I liked the trip and I think that it was an eye opening adventure. I think it was fun but I think that it was very sad. It was so sad o see how I humane people were to other people and I think that the survivors of the holocaust should have a special little get together for some cake and to talk about what I was like for them. I hope that the survivors have a good life. The museum was sad. I cried.

It was a wonderful experience and I am so glad that i got the opportunity to go on this depressing trip. I learned so much and it was amazing and thank you so much to the teachers that have made a wonderful memory for the students who went.

The Holocaust Museum was an eye opening experience for me. It made me realize how lucky I am to not be in the situation the jewish people were in.

12/05/2012 11:28am

The holocaust trip was one of those kind of field trips where it's not really fun, but it's a learning experience. After going through the museum you realized how much these people suffered through, when really there was no reason for that to have happened. All because of there race or some other reason.

Samuel Fuhrman
12/05/2012 11:28am

This was a great experience for me. It was really cool to be able to experience what other Jews like me had to go through during the Holocaust. I think that our tour guide did a great job as well explaining what people went through.

This trip was something I won't forget any time soon. I found myself in shock at how terrible everything was most of the time. The trip made me really able to believe and more clearly visualize the horrors of the Holocaust. I remember thinking, more than once, "I'm glad the Holocaust is over." (Well, obviously. Who isn't?)

I think it was a great experience. I had a great time at the Holocaust Museum in Richmond. I wish that we had more time to look around to see and read the signs and objects. I actually now feel how deep the Holocaust was. The gas chamber, the tunnel, and even the box car. Reading about the Holocaust gives you an idea of what happened but going to the museum made you feel what they feel. I had a fun time

The holocaust museum was awesome and I thought that it was a very emotional experiance how they treated the children and how the family had to live in the tunnel for 6 months wow I wonder how they felt to finally get out of that dark potatoe hole what happened if they had to use the restroom I wonder if they could not aim or if they dropped the skittles

Katelyn Gable
12/06/2012 2:35pm

I didn't go on the field trip but the book was very sad and i learned a lot from it about the Holocaust and how the people were treated and what they did to them when they got to the camp.

12/06/2012 5:11pm

I thought overall it was good but I just wish it would have lasted longer because we could have gotten home later and then we would have more time in each room. Also I wish our tour guide was a little but better and younger! :)

Meredith Garrison
12/06/2012 5:12pm

I was really excited to go to the holocaust museum!! When we got there the exhibits were better than I ever could have imagined! The only bad thing was that our guide rushed us through everything so we didn't have enough time to explore each exhibit!

Jason Hubbard
12/06/2012 5:22pm

the mueseum was interesting i thought they did a good job of showing what the germans did to the jewish people

Bella Rave
12/06/2012 7:08pm

I thought that the field trip was a chilling yet fun experience. It was fun to crawl through the tunnels to see how that family lived while they were in hiding. I wish we could have stayed longer to see the museum more in depth! Overall it was a fun fieldtrip!

Willson Tuck
12/06/2012 8:14pm

I feel that before we entered the museum everybody was all over the place and hyper. If you could have seen after we left, it was depressing. I think the Holocaust Museum has opened my eyes and made me see the horror of what happened. I enjoyed it and can' t wait for my little brother to do it too.

Liddie Knoche
12/06/2012 8:39pm

I thought the Holocaust museum was very interesting and also sort of sad at times (like the children's section). I didn't like how we didn't get to take our time because we had to rush through it. I really liked it and it was overall a great experience!

Megan Dixon
12/06/2012 8:48pm

I think the field trip to the museum was a great experience, but it was sad to think of what had happened during the Holocaust..

Philip Usonis
12/06/2012 8:48pm

I was really excited to go to the halocaust museum and I had lots of fun but when I left I really understood all the terrible things that they did to the Jews and what is was like to be a Jew during the halocaust. It was an eye opening feild trip for me.

12/07/2012 6:55am

The Holocaust museum, like everyone has said, was not fun. It was a learning experience. The Holocaust was a very depressing time, and the museum tried their best to make it the way it was during the actual Holocaust. In my opinion, the museum wasn't very sad at all. I think reading Night gave me a more visual than the museum did.

I thought that the holocaust museum was a great experience but it was kind of disturbing and sad. I wish we would have had time to appreciate each part of the museum instead of rushing through it all

Zackary King
12/07/2012 1:43pm

The field trip was a great expirence but i wish we could have spent more time actually looking at the exhibits than listening to the tour guide. All in all, the tour was great.

12/07/2012 1:43pm

I liked the trip but the tour was too fast. Our tour guide didnt let us look around at all the pictures and props.

12/07/2012 3:17pm

I really enjoyed the feild trip. The dosect we had was great, you could tell he knew a lot about the holocaust and he did a great job explaining it to us. the museam was set up perfectly, making its visitors really understand what it was like. overall it was a great experience.

Anna McDonald
12/07/2012 3:20pm

I thought this trip to the Holocaust Museum was very eye opening. It made me think more about how lucky I am to not have lived in that time. It was sad but it was very infromative and I am glad I got to go and have the experience.

Michael Cunningham
12/07/2012 3:21pm

i thought the overall trip was very very very bad but i relly like the big, black hole we had to go into. the museam was weid because there was alot of dummie people every where and you werent alowed to touch there soupe bolwls. the tour gouid was mean and talked to us fore houars on end. i would never go agen evan if i was paid to go because i got but cramps from standing so long.

Brooke Wainwright
12/07/2012 3:23pm

I thought the trip to the Holocaust Museum was very eye opening. Mrs. Phillips was exactly right on how the trip was going to be. She said you would come out with mixed emoitions and it was exactly that. It was really sad and depressing what happened to all those people during the Holocaust and it was also very imformative. It also shows how lucky we are to not have lived during that time.

Andy Boeglin
12/07/2012 3:26pm

The field trip was sad because we witnessed what the nazis have done to the jews.

James Byng
12/07/2012 3:28pm

I found the holocoust musem very depresing because it showed me that horible freaking Josef Mengele who i wish i could strangel my self.

Andy the I-Candy
12/07/2012 3:29pm

The museum was enjoyable, my favorite part of the trip was the tunnel in the dirt. It was scary in the gas chamber because there was claw marks on the walls.

Nelson Slade
12/07/2012 3:34pm

This trip to me was truly inspiring. I learned so much AND was amazed by how much was kept secret and that I didn't know. I only know now that I can not take things for granted and am astounded what they had to go through. It was truly inspiring. I loved it

Princess Jasmine Bell ^_^ <3
12/07/2012 3:38pm

The field trip tour went too fast, i couldn't really look at anything around the room. The manequins were made out of clay so they looked kind of real. It really freaked me out though because they would always stare at me and i felt like they were going to move. I thought it was horrible how people would tourture other people. It disgust me...

Kenya Bussey :) <3
12/07/2012 3:39pm

the hollocaust was very graphic and it talked about genocide which is the elimination of a race and it was actually a little disturbing the way they were just murdering people and children left and right and how the soldiers were molesting young women and it really got me thinking about how lucky i am. and be tahnkful for my freedoms that seem small to me but are really important to them and i try to picture my self being in the holocaust but i dont think i could survive through such harsh condititons.

damien cruz
12/08/2012 2:53am

I think the book told more about the holocaust than Anne Frank's diary and described everything that happened to the Jews in the concentration camps.

Jamie Wengler
12/08/2012 12:07pm

I though the field trip was over all a great experience, but I did not like the fact that we rushed most of the time. We were not able to look around at all the pictures and objects they had in the museum.

Hannah Hildenbrand
12/10/2012 8:22am

I thought the trip was very sad but educational.

Megan Hendey
12/10/2012 12:35pm

I loved the field trip a lot, it was educational, interesting, and amusing. although, it seemed to be very short since it was only 1 hour and 30 minutes long. But it was very realistic and had cool stuff.

zaria gordon
12/10/2012 12:46pm

I thought the trip was very educational, short, and a very great experience. We only had 1hr. and 30 min. and the tour guide didn't really do a great job. personally he should have talked for 10 min. and let us walk around for a while.

The musem was a great place to go to learn. And they tlked about an coverd everything. I thought the musem was great because the guide we had told us the things we wanted to hear an the things we didnt but we needed to hear them anyways over all it was a great freildtrip.

I thought that it was a very neat museum but we were a little bit rushed.

Jojo Acevedo
12/10/2012 1:40pm

I liked the field trip, but i dont think the video in the begining was cool. It was way too long and very boring. People just want to go ahead and get to see the cool stuff, not want to see a 5638947 hour video. The tour guide talked for 100 years too. Besides that, it was cool :]

12/10/2012 1:40pm

This was a cool field trip and i couldnt go because of mrs. spagnolo. well that's about it i am leaving, so peace out. broskee.....

I liked the trip and thought it was very informative and interesting. It was a bit depressing and sad but that was only to remind you of the Holocaust. The tour guide talked a lot but that was a good thing considering the fact he said a lot of interesting things and had a lot of knowledge about the Holocaust.

I really enjoyed the trip to the Holocaust Museum. My favorite part was the tunnel but the mannequins were creepy.

Jean-Michael Gutierrez
12/16/2012 9:41pm

I though it was really fun and i got my mind refreshed by the way they taught us new facts about the Holocaust. Things like crawling into a hole similar to what the Jews had to do when they were hiding from the Nazi's made it a more intense experience.
